Purpose of the Design
Teleological
The design itself has to have an specific purpose. There has to be a good reason for the design itself, so it can fulfill and satisfy effectively and optimally the needs for which it is designed and created for.
Simplest way
Ockham's Razor
There can be no doubt that the simplest way, is the best way. This is a fundamental principal for optimal functionality for any design. The simpler, the better.
Redo until most effective
Iterative
A model or a design has to be reconstructed from it's previous successor to accomplish eventual optimal perfection, it has to be done and redone until most effective.
Human measurements - Human dimensions design
Parameter
A design conceived and built for human's dimensions.
practically comfortable
Ergonomic
For a design to be comfortable it has to be intrinsically practical, and vice verse.
Beauty is a most
Aesthetically pleasent
A design has to be absolutely beautiful.
No potential danger
Safety oriented
Safety of use is an obvious and critical feature inherent to any specific design. It most be safe to use.
Quality - Performance - Value
Durability
Durability is optimal quality. Most designs today are built to brake within an specific time, "planned obsolescence" or built-in obsolescence. In industrial design and economics is a policy of planning or designing a product with an artificially limited useful life, so it will become obsolete (that is, unfashionable or no longer functional) after a certain period of time. Market profit is one of the biggest enemies for optimal functionality and efficiency of design.
Can not be expensive
Affordable
Value has to be properly priced, in consideration with it's niche's financial margins and economical power.
Purchasing probabilities
Marketable
A good product has to be made available to others.
What others think
Perception
How do we want our design to be perceived? What image, idea, concept does our design conveys, and how is our design ultimately perceived.
Uniqueness
Innovative
Is the design unique and innovative? Evolution, through innovation and uniqueness, is essential in a design for it to be revolutionary.
